It is the second largest city in Wales, and located on the beautiful Gower Peninsular well served by road, rail and air links. Main road line to Swansea is the M4 motorway with connections to the M6, M5, M32, M42 and M50. SMaRT is less than 7 miles away from junction 42 on the M4 motorway. London is three hours away by train, Birmingham three hours and Derby four hours. There are regular scheduled flights from UK, European and International destinations to Cardiff and Bristol Airports. Here’s the travel information and directions you need to find your way to Swansea Materials Research & Testing Ltd (SMaRT) at Swansea University (Please find downloadable links for directions on the left).  .    By Car: From the South-East and the South-West: take the M4 into Wales through Newport and Cardiff, proceeding on the motorway to Swansea. Exit the M4 at junction 42 (signposted Swansea A483) where the slip road will bring you onto Fabian Way. At the first roundabout (after 1.1 miles) take the second exit continuing west (first exit is a no through road). Continue straight across the next five sets of traffic lights (1st: Amazon pedestrian crossing; 2nd: Visteon Factory on right; 3rd: McDonalds to the left and Park and Ride Car Park to the right (3.8 miles); 4th: just after the Village Hotel on the left; 5th: Just after the Cape Horner pub on the left, onto the bridge over the River Tawe (A4067 - 4.6 miles) Pass Sainsbury’s (4.8 miles, on the left) and Swansea Museum (5 miles, again on the left) continuing straight ahead, pass Tesco’s on your right (5.4 miles), and the City & County of Swansea offices on your left (5.5 miles). Continue along the coast road towards Mumbles, passing a stretch of B&B hotels and the Bay View public house on your right. After the next set of traffic lights make sure you are in the outside lane of the duel carriage way as you pass St Helens Rugby Ground (6.3 miles). Go straight ahead at traffic lights.  At the next set of traffic lights, (immediately before a foot bridge), turn right into the University. Please stop at the main gate and give your name to the Porters if we have reserved a parking space for you, they will direct you to the Pay and Display Car Park, otherwise please see link on left for other car parks available. From the Midlands and the North: via M6/M5/M50, the A465 heads of the Valleys route brings you across the Brecon Beacons and directly into the Vale of Neath. Join the M4 at junction 43 and follow the instructions above.   How to get to Rooms 946A&B Enter the School of Engineering building (main entrance). Walk to the end of the corridor ( you will pass vending machines on the left-hand side). Turn right through the double doors. Our offices are immediately after the next set of double doors (right hand side).
