The facility houses a comprehensive metallography suite for microstructural post test analysis and advanced analysis tools including digital, optical and electron microscopy, along with a 3D scanner. In addition, a finite element modelling capability is available to support stress analysis of specimen and sub-element geometries, plus predictions of mechanical performance. Models to describe complex creep-fatigue interactions have been developed to predict cyclic deformation and crack propagation based on laboratory generated constitutive behaviour.
